Biography

Emily Cathcart double majored at Victoria University of Wellington in Marine Biology, Ecology and Biodiversity and have always been fascinated by the aquatic world and science. After working for four years at a microbiology research lab in Auckland, Emily finally took the leap and moved to Melbourne in 2023 to pursue her fishy dreams and career in aquatic species. Emily says, “Yet another New Zealander who made the jump across the ditch!” She first worked at a barramundi fish farm in Werribee, before joining the Australian Regenerative Medicine Institute (ARMI) AquaCore facility at Monash University, one year later. Beyond loving fish, Emily is an avid music collector with over 100 vinyl records, oddities and curiosities enthusiast, and a certified cat lady. Horror movies are her go-to comfort watch and Halloween is her Christmas.
