Dr Nathalie Saurat

GROUP LEADER | SENIOR RESEARCH FELLOW

Biography

Dr Nathalie Saurat completed her PhD at the University of Cambridge under the mentorship of Dr. Rick Livesey, where she studied cortical development and built stem cell models to investigate Down’s syndrome and Alzheimer’s disease. She completed her postdoctoral fellowship at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, where she used CRISPR screening and novel computational tools to manipulate and assess aging in stem cell-derived neurons.

In 2025, Dr Saurat established her research program at the Australian Regenerative Medicine Institute (ARMI). Using 2D and 3D human stem cell-based models to explore the functional impact of ageing on postmitotic neurons and glia, her research aims to understand the underlying mechanisms driving Alzheimer’s disease and how cellular ageing contributes to disease progression.
