Acknowledging the Service of Professor Andrew Dyer

The Australian Regenerative Medicine Institute (ARMI) extends its sincere thanks to Professor Andrew Dyer, who has advised that he will conclude his service as a board member and Chair of the ARMI Leadership Advisory Board on 30 June 2025.

Professor Dyer was appointed to the ARMI Leadership Advisory Board as one of its inaugural members in 2010 and assumed the role of Chair in 2021. Across nearly 15 years of service, he has made an outstanding contribution to ARMI’s growth and success, providing steady counsel and advocacy for the Institute both within Monash University and with key external stakeholders.

Under Professor Dyer’s leadership, ARMI deepened its engagement with industry and clinical partners, significantly advancing its goal of translating regenerative medicine research into therapies that improve lives. His tenure saw the successful establishment of ARMI’s first start-up, Myostellar, focused on therapies for muscular dystrophies; a landmark collaboration with Cartherics and CCRM Australia; and most recently, the commercialisation partnership behind Orio Therapeutics, which is transforming protein-based drug delivery.

Professor Dyer has consistently encouraged ARMI’s leaders to apply their scientific excellence to real-world challenges, with a strong emphasis on commercial readiness, clinical translation and long-term sustainability.

“Andrew has been a steadfast advocate for translating research into real-world impact,” said ARMI Director, Professor Peter Currie. “His insight and steady hand have helped guide the Institute through a critical phase of growth. He has left a legacy that will guide our direction forward and shape our future.”

Reflecting on his time with ARMI, Professor Dyer noted:

“I have thoroughly enjoyed the unique opportunity to work with the Board and the incredibly talented leadership team and researchers at ARMI. While there are many wonderful experiences and results I could comment on, perhaps the most rewarding has been observing the growth in leadership skills across the team, alongside the quality and dedication of everyone at ARMI — including our growing cohort of post-graduate students who are very much part of ARMI’s future.”

On behalf of the Institute and the broader ARMI community, we thank Professor Dyer for his service, counsel, and enduring commitment to regenerative medicine.
